Igniting Leadership, Inspiring Impact

Recently, Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU) hosted a leadership training programme titled “The Art of Impact: Let her, Lead her, Be her,” an empowering initiative designed to inspire and equip participants with the skills and confidence to lead with purpose across both personal and professional spheres.

Organised by Ms Hazlina Darman (Senior Lecturer, School of Mathematics, Actuarial, and Quantitative Studies at APU) and Dr Meera Eeswaran (Senior Lecturer, School of Accounting and Finance at APU), the programme brought together 60 participants (APU students and staff, as well as external attendees).

The programme was further strengthened through collaboration with APU’s DIGITGAL (Driving Girls in Technology, Growth, and Leadership) and WB Asia Events, creating a diverse and engaging platform for shared learning and growth.

The programme featured three distinguished speakers who shared valuable insights drawn from their professional and personal journeys.

Dr Lalua Rahsiad, a Financial Literacy Advocate and Sustainable Finance Expert, delivered an inspiring session titled “Women of Faith, Women of Impact.”

Her session emphasised purpose-driven leadership, resilience, and the importance of self-belief in overcoming challenges.

This was followed by a session titled “When Women lead, the World transforms,” by Mr Majid Hussein, a Barrister and Chartered Tax Advisor based in the United Kingdom.

His session highlighted the transformative influence of women in leadership, while underscoring the importance of financial confidence, independence, and continuous personal development in achieving long-term success.

Complementing these perspectives, Ms Habiba Khatun, a Civil Servant based in the United Kingdom, delivered an engaging session on navigating professional environments.

Her session offered practical insights into leadership, adaptability, and personal growth within public service, while highlighting the importance of resilience and continuous learning in building a meaningful and impactful career.

The programme created an engaging and interactive environment where participants actively took part in discussions, reflections, and knowledge sharing.

The collaborative setting further encouraged peer learning and mentorship, allowing participants to exchange perspectives, build meaningful connections, and support one another’s growth.

Beyond skill development, the programme also expanded networking opportunities, connecting participants with industry professionals and like-minded peers, thereby fostering relationships that extend beyond the programme itself.

Overall, the programme not only sparked meaningful conversations, but also encouraged participants to translate insights into tangible actions within their own communities.

Participants left inspired to embrace challenges, support one another, and contribute positively to the broader society, demonstrating that leadership extends beyond titles; it is lived through influence, initiative, and impact.
